Congrats to Chris Langlais for running the fastest time of the year, also to Mike Irving for running in all the Friday night runs of 2020. Welcome to Justin, the WHOI trail runner, who ran his first Friday night run. But most of all, congrats to Ben Van Mooy who ran the exact same time this week as he did last week. Now that’s real hard to do even if you tried.

Highest turnout of the year today for the Friday run, despite the high winds – seven brave runners. It was the strongest southwest wind tonight we have ever had in the 22-year history of the event. If the Falmouth Road Race were held tonite the course record would have been obliterated. And yes, Ben Van Mooy matched his time for the third week in a row.

What a night at Friday Night run! Our largest field of the year: nine runners. Our fastest time of the year: 31:57 by Chris Langlais ( who started late and finished early). And most importantly: our first woman five mile runner of the year. Congrats to Ann Tarrant! Chris and his cohort Mike Irving are training for the Boston Marathon. Ann is headed to Oklahoma in April for a marathon to chalk up a marathon in her 31st state. Lenny and Paul our 70+ year old speedsters just won their divisions at the Hyannis Half Marathon and 10K.

Connor Cobb scorched the Friday Night run to start it off with a time of 26:40, a new personal best and the third-fastest time of the year and actually the third-fastest time in the past ten years. On Sunday Chris Langlais ran his virtual Cape Cod Marathon in 2:59, which was a new PR. His teammate Connor Cobb managed to pace him for 22 miles of it. The brothers Henry and Caleb also raced on Sunday in a doubleheader. Henry ran a 5K PR of 16:33 at the hilly Frank Kelly High School Invitational in Attleboro to place 15h overall. Caleb ran a two-miler on the track later in the evening in 9:39. Back to the Friday Night Five… Mary Ryther was the first woman and fourth overall, she had to run solo this week as she seems to have run her training partners into the ground and they were on the shelf this week. We hope to see them back in action soon. Dan Mcarthy made his Friday Night debut and ran a very good time of just under 36 minutes.

26:04!! It was basically the six Friday Night regulars this week. Most of the runners had fast times…the strong south-west tailwind helped. Connor Cobb raced home with his fastest ever Friday Night run. His time of 26:04 placed in a tie for fifth fastest of all time Friday Night runners. Ironically he tied his friend Adolfo Carvahlo, who also ran 26:04 in August of this year.

Twelve runners this week at the Friday Night Five. Pete Landry ran his first five mile run since the 2014 Cape Cod Half Marathon. He said it wasn’t easy… Chris Langlais edged out Connor Cobb for first place, but several other runners who clearly had slower times insisted they actually won the race and filed a bunch of protests.

Eight runners this week on a cold icy run – it was pretty much the usual suspects. Iron Mike Garry made a post-run socially distant social appearance… Mike is in the all-time top five of Friday Night run finishes but now is retired from running. The Ho Ho Ho Christmas Five will happen this coming Friday after presents are opened of course.

December 25, 2020 – Race #1226
Six runners took a break from Christmas festivities to run the Friday Night Christmas run. It was the largest Christmas turnout in the long history of the event. Bob Richards was smart enough to get his run in early to avoid the rain. For the afternoon group in the rain, Silas chased down his older brothers and Connor Cobb to chalk up a four minute personal best five mile time. It was a friendly four way tie up front for first at 32:30, with the two old guys way behind.
