Annual memberships provide income for the club to allow it to maintain its schedule of activities. Memberships run for 1 year from join date. Visit the Membership webpage for more information and to join.
The Annual Meeting is held in the early part of January of each year, with the date, time and place announced on this website. There are also club meetings on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7pm, to which all members are invited. It is at these meetings that club policy is determined. So if you have an idea, please consider yourself invited.
The FRC used to offer course certification and race timing service to other area races, but as of 2021, this program is no longer active.
The first of the club’s annual races is the Seagull Six Spring Classic (almost 6 miles), starting in Woods Hole, and usually held the last Sunday in March or first Sunday in April. Most club members either run in or volunteer at this race.
The second official FRC race is the Cape Cod Trail Race, added in 2014, which is held in April just a week or two after the Seagull Six. It utilizes the many trails of the Francis Crane Wildlife Management Area and offers race distances from 10K to 30k. Visit the Cape Cod Trail Race website for details on this event.
In May, the Club holds the shortest of our races, the Surf Drive Mile (formerly the Main Street Mile). It is a great event because it involves all ages, from small toddlers to grandparents. Most members of the club either run in or volunteer at this event, which is both an excellent speed test for experienced runners and a superb introduction to the sport for newcomers and children alike. See this website’s Surf Drive Mile page for more info.
In 2022, the club added another May race: the Women Run Cape Cod 5k. This race is an event for women and girls celebrating health and fitness, and a portion of the proceeds are given to local groups that support women and girls in running.
A summer youth running program is held during July and August for children and teens. Individualized training to improve running technique is offered. Details can be found at the Youth Running Program page on this website, posted sometime in the spring when details of the program are complete.
The Cape Cod Marathon Half is held on the Saturday morning of Cape Cod Marathon weekend, the first weekend in October. Visit the Cape Cod Marathon website for details on this event.
The Cape Cod Marathon and Relay is held the following morning. This is a great weekend – 1200 runners and 200 relay teams come into town and hundreds of volunteers are needed. Run the marathon, put a relay team together or be part of the excitement by volunteering. Be sure to go to the Cape Cod Marathon website for the latest info.
The Friday Night Five-Miler starts at Falmouth Town Hall parking lot at 5:30 year round. There is no entry fee and runners time themselves. Added to this weekly event is a 2.4-mile walk which starts at the same time and place as the run.
Year round Track Workouts are held at Falmouth High School on Wednesday evening at 5:30. Participants must be Falmouth Running Club members and email reminders are sent out weekly and the workouts can be found on our FaceBook page. These workouts are for all levels of ability, and feature camaraderie as well as good hard effort. In the winter, the lights are turned on at the track.
In May, Club members help with the cleanup of the Falmouth Streets by picking up trash along Jones Road. Coffee and bagels at the Cape Cod Bagel Shop are guaranteed once the job is finished.
Most years the Club often sponsors a summer cookout. We’ve had as many as 65 members turn out for these parties.
Our website has become the primary information conduit for the Club. Contributions are welcome, especially pictures of events featuring FRC runners and stories about runs done. Email [email protected] to contribute, or have any corrections or suggestions for the website.
If you have questions about any of the events, contact any of the club officers.
There are many opportunities to become involved, especially in volunteering, either before or during events. It is also a great way to meet other runners and members.
